Well, I bought another bike. It's a 2000 Triumph Sprint RS 955.
Why I bought it is because it seems smart to make the 05 ZX6R a track-only bike. The Triumph is not only more practical and comfortable as a street bike and traveler, but it means that the ZX doesn't get a bunch of miles piled onto it when it really should remain as fresh as possible for ripping around on the racetrack.
I worked on it today to fix a vacuum leak and it looks pretty darn good for an older bike. While I was under the tank, I opened the airbox to find about a pound of acorns and other chipmunk debris. The air filter was in pretty good shape.
I must say that the Triumph has a bit of a beast-like character with its three cylinder engine, and it is definitely not Japanese. The motor is very mechanical and a bit rough, which is cool. It is very much like the MZ Scorpion I used to own.
It should be an interesting bike to ride.
I was interviewed on February 11th by Adrian Blake for his Internet radio show, "Ride!". The interview is archived for your listening pleasure.
Next weekend, I'll be giving three different presentations at the Massachusetts Rider Education Program's Annual Update for MSF instructors. I'll let you know how it went.
David Hough (of Proficient Motorcycling book fame) wrote a very complimentary review of the book/video. The last sentence of the review reads:
"In my opinion, this is one of the best motorcycle skills books on the market today, and both Ken and Whitehorse Press are to be commended for making it available."
